My name is Mary Grace Tracy.
I use oil paint to explore compositions that find a balance between hyper-realism and abstraction. This balance is found along the way, as I allow my mood to determine the details while painting. My work is influenced by the timeless design of vintage fashion and objects. These influences manifest in portraiture and still-life compositions, or reveal themselves in painted collages.
My work is motivated by the complexities of everyday objects. Often the design behind ordinary things is overlooked. I want to slow down our appreciation of the items that surround us. I adore the details - I get lost in them. Every detail has a purpose. My intention is to highlight the beauty in the mundane.
